Monemvasia has several restaurants and tavernas within the castle, as well as at the Outer Town. Just mentioning a few, as the “historical” MATOULA, MARIANTHI and KANONI, at the castle and SCORPIOS, AKROYALI, TRATA, KOKKINO PODILATO and AKTAIO at the Outer Town. All of them serve local specialties, fish dishes and dishes in the oven at reasonable prices.
Most of the cafes and bars can be found on the main road of the caslte (the “Foros”), as the EMVASIS, RODI, ENETIKO and VATHISFAIRO. Also try the traditional shops serving coffee, as BYZANTINO and NEW MALVASIA. The cafes and bars at the Outer Town offer a splendid view of the sea. It is worth mentioning that there are excellent traditional tavernas with delicious dishes at the various villages around Monemvasia
Finally, one may visit the shops that offer local products and special sweets, as the famous “amygdalota” of Monemvasia. There are also stores that sell fine silver and gold jewelry and products of craftmanship.
There are several groceries and super-markets at the Outer Town and stores offering the basic within the castle.
